This month we'd like to honor WorkIT since it's our 7th Anniversary!!! We can't believe it's been 7 years! The years have been so full of life, love, joy, laughter, and growth! It's been amazing and it's all because of YOU! We wouldn't be successful without each and every one of you. You matter and we are so glad you are on this journey with us!
The following is a poem about WorkIT written by one of our members & Community Managers, Jessica Hannon:
Co-Working Bliss
“I need silence” I think to myself
So I slip quietly out of my house
Out of the noise of the tv
Away from pets begging for pats
Out of earshot and eyeline of family
Who need me - just when I sit down
I drive into town slowly
Decompressing with the radio
I circle the block a few times – it is downtown
Finally! Yes!
I get the perfect spot.
Setting a reminder to check my tires in a bit
I gather my things and lock the car doors
I open the door and feel that cool air in the summer
The warmth, if it's wintertime, greets me lovingly
The smell of coffee idling softly in the air
The sound of subtle typing reaches my ears
“Hey there!” people say as I round the corner
“Hi!” I smile my reply, as I check my mailbox
I quickly decide if I want to go upstairs for solitude
Or maybe sit at the community table with others here
Today, I choose “others” and find my place
Some have earbuds in and some are ready to chat
I love the sound of small talk and excitement
The passion is tangible in the atmosphere here
I jump in head first and share my latest thoughts
My new invention ideas, that troublesome review posted
I get feedback if I ask, compassionate listening if I don't
“These are my people” I think to myself with a sigh
I love my home, my family is everything to me.
But here, I get to put legs to my ideas.
Here, is about me. Here, is about “WE”.
I am eager to hear what the others have going on as well
I'm genuinely invested in their success, as they are in mine
Networking is just part of the woven tapestry of the atmosphere
It's a bonus just like the laughter and sometimes tears we share
I realize, I didn't need silence after all.
I needed the community, working independently together.
Space to concentrate and focus on my goals,
Space to collaborate and be accountable,
I needed WorkIT
